|
In September of 2003 the United States Blind Golf Association held their national championship at my home course, OGA, in Tukwila, Oregon. This would be my first blind golf event since losing part of my vision, but it would not be the last. I’ve been fortunate to win the U.S. National b3 title the past four years. Prior to losing my vision I was an educator in
the Beaverton School District working with special needs children. With my
background in education and my love for the game of golf I wanted to do
something locally to help boys and girls with limited vision become
acquainted with the game of golf. In 2007 I helped organize and/or participate in weekly classes at The Children’s Course as well as summer sports camp for the United States Association of Blind Athletes. The big finale at the end of the year was a golf clinic at The Reserve |
Vineyard and Golf Club in association
with a charity golf event hosted by the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing
Foundation. |
